Live Events

Home to 25+ performing arts groups with over 75 events a year, the Egyptian Theatre is host to some of the most unique events in Northern Illinois. Live events at the Egyptian Theatre are produced by each performing organization.

Tickets may only be purchased in advance from each performing group. When available phone numbers for advance tickets for each event follows each listing. Tickets can only be purchased at the Theatre Box Office one hour before each show time.

Unless otherwise stated doors will open one hour prior to showtime with seating beginning half an hour before showtime.

September

Sept. 13 at 7:30pm - 6th Annual Gavin Wilson Show

6th annual family variety show featuring Gavin, his father and sons. Special guests this year are the Barb City Stompers, Zachary Harris, Denny Vaupel, St. Marys Lancer Band, and Dreamers Childrens Theatre. Gavin's show features favorite popular Jazz and Broadway tunes such as "76 Trombones", "Let it Be", "Old Man River", "Memory", and "My Romance". Join us for a night of music, musing, magic and fun. Back to the 80's: A Totally Awesome Musical

Remember when actors became American Presidents? When bubble skirts and blue eye shadow were cool? When Atari was cutting edge technology? From the era that brought the world the Rubik's cube, Max Headroom and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comes CCT's production of "Back to the 80's - A Totally Awesome Musical." "Back to the 80's" is a musical written in the style of "Ferris Bueller's Day Off", "Back to The Future", and "The Wedding Singer." The show tells the story of the senior class of William Ocean High School that graduated in the 1980's, as remembered and seen through the eyes of Corey Palmer, who is now in his 30's. Featured songs include "Footlose," "Material Girl," and "Love Shack" among 23 other popular songs of the 80's. Tickets are $11.00 for 3 years old and up and $6.00 for 2 years old and under. George Winston will perform a solo piano concert to benefit Oaken Acres Wildlife Center in Sycamore, IL which is celebrating their 25th Anniversary. General admission tickets are $40 or Reserved premium tickets are $100 which includes post-concert champagne reception with George Winston. Oct. 1 at 8:00pm - DanszLoop Chicago

DanszLoop Chicago, professional modern dance troupe from Chicago, IL presents choreography by award-winning Paula Frasz, also a Professor of Dance at Northern Illinois University. DanszLoop will perform Lorita! a modern dance adaptation of the Tennessee Williams short story, "Happy August the Tenth". Also on the program is the audience favorite Marat. Enjoy what critics have called Frasz's "wit, gaiety and delight in storytelling." Tickets are $20 for general admission and $12 for Students and Seniors. Oct. 4 at 7:30pm - Art for Life

This is Northern Dance Theatre's 3rd year at the Egyptian Theatre and they are celebrating the 12th Anniversary of Art For Life.  Art For Life is an Aids Benefit concert branched off of Dance For Life held annually in downtown Chicago.  This concert supports the Dance For Life Fund and Aids Foundation of Chicago and helps promote aids awareness through a showcased evening of dance, art, and music. This event features a variety of performances from Northern Illinois University Dance students along with some special guests from the Chicago dance scene. All proceeds will benefit the Dance for Life fund. The fund provides assistance grants to members of Chicago's dance community affected by or living with HIV/AIDS. There is a suggested $8.00 donation taken at the door.

Oct. 24-26 and Oct. 29-Nov.1 from 7-11pm - "Amenti" The Egyptian Theatre Haunted House

Amenti is the Egyptian Goddess guarding the world of the dead. Within her gates lie the horrors of the Egyptian underworld. Terror after terror await those who dare to enter. But be careful, Amenti jealously guards her gates and assures that no one escapes. This attraction has become one of the most talked about events in the DeKalb area. Over 20 different scenes on 6 different levels, the Egyptian Theatre Haunted House is sure to make you want your mummy! Nov. 14 at 7pm, Nov. 15 at 7pm and Nov. 16 at 2pm - Disney's Mulan Junior

Travel back to the legendary, story-telling days of ancient China with this action-packed stage adaptation of Disney's Mulan. The Huns have invaded, and it is up to the misfit Mulan and her mischievous sidekick Mushu to save the Emperor! Mulan Junior is a hearwarming celebration of culture, honor and a fighting spirit. The musical includes favorite songs from the Disney animated feature film "Mulan," including "Reflection," "Honor to Us All," and "I'll Make a Man Out of You." This production features Dreamers ages 10-13, though older dreamers will also participate. Tickets are $5.00 for children and students and $10.00 for adults. Nov. 22 - OCB Midwest States Bodybuilding and Figure Competition

The OCB Midwest States bodybuilding competition is back at the Egyptian Theatre for another year. This all day event is a Bodybuilding and Figure competition. This is a IFPA Pro-Qualifing event. For more information and to purchase tickets visit www.ocbmidweststates.com.

Dec. 4 - Santa Arrives in Downtown DeKalb

The festivities begin at 6:00pm in the lobby of the theatre and conclude with a parade at 7:00pm where Santa will make his grand entrance to downtown DeKalb and visit with kids at his house. For more information visit www.renewdekalb.com.

Dec. 5 at 7:00pm - KSO Holiday Pops Concert

Make it a family tradition and warm your hearts with the music of the holiday season at the Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra's 6th annual Holiday Pops Concert. Holiday favorites, including an audience sing-a-long and child participation, are featured in this program. Adult tickets are $13.00, Students and Seniors 62 and over are $10.00 and Children under 12 are $5.00. Tickets go on sale 30 minutes prior to concert and all seats are general admission. Dec. 6 at 7:00pm and Dec. 7 at 2:00pm - The Nutcracker

The School of Ballet Arts and Dance presents This beloved ballet that is based on the book "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King" by Eta Hoffman. Generations of audiences have enjoyed this fantastic Christmas favorite, a charming holiday tale of adventure that follows a young German girl through a fantasy world of princes, toy soldiers, sweets, and an army of mice. Beth Fowler Dance Company presents The Nutcracker, a timeless holiday tradition that delights the inner child in us all. Dec. 18 at 6:30pm - Lincoln Elementary School Holiday Concert

Lincoln Elementary performs for their family, friends, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, and grandparents. Join the kindergarten through fifth grade students as they perform their holiday favorites. Doors open at 6pm. Admission free concert courtesy of the Lincoln Elementary School PTO.

Dec. 19 at 7:00pm - Rich Criss in Concert: A Christmas Celebration (A benefit for the Egyptian Theatre)

Rich Criss will once again grace the stage of the Egyptian Theatre for a night that shouldn't be missed. For the first time ever this benefit concert will be a Christmas Celebration! This concert is given as a gift to the community by Rich Criss Ministries as all ticket proceeds will go towards ongoing expenses faced by the Egyptian Theatre. Rich Criss Ministries will be joined by special guests, “The Good News Quartet,” a southern gospel quartet and Zachary Harris, a talented DeKalb singer, who will open the show. This promises to be an exciting evening featuring a variety of Christian music styles, ranging from contemporary Christian to praise and worship to southern gospel.
